April 28, World Day for Safety and Health at Work is important to us at McDonald’s India. Our employees and crew form the core and existence of our brand, and we consider their welfare our prime responsibility.
Occupational safety and health at McDonald’s India happen through various measures. Our employees’ emotional and mental well-being is looked into via multiple employee initiatives including regular breaks in employee shifts. Job stability also provides them with a sense of emotional security, and we share a good rapport with all our staff.
To feel good at one’s job means to do it well, and at McDonald’s India the enthusiasm levels are kept high through equitable compensation; performance-based incentives; workplace diversity and inclusivity; ethical employment practices; direct interactions with supervisors and business managers; empowering store-level executives; and providing opportunities for training, learning, and development.
Physical safety at work and security is prioritized at McDonald’s India. We promote employee health, safety, and well-being.
Routine workshops on fire safety, workplace safety, and road safety are conducted. We have effective fire management systems in place at all times – smoke detectors and fire suppressants to mitigate fire incidents and related risks. Fire safety drills take place quarterly.
Besides monthly health and safety training programs, employees can report (potential) work-related hazards to the restaurant manager. They also have access to first-aid/medical kits in our offices and restaurants.
In the chance an incident occurs, it is investigated and corrective actions are deployed through amendments in our SOP. Hands-on training on health and safety at the stores is provided to store employees. Additionally, restaurant audits happen, quarterly, to take stock of existing health and safety parameters as well as to identify potential work-related hazards.
In terms of our employees’ basic safety at work, we have security personnel teams. When it comes to taking care of our staff at work, our workforce is also equipped with gloves and caps in-store, including antimicrobial hand wash for them at their stations and throughout the stores.
