McDonald’s has always been at the forefront of introducing new tastes. Last year, it rolled out a one-of-its-kind initiative – Chef Challenge, in which budding chefs from various Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) colleges across the country were asked to create their own version of a McDonald’s burger.

The contest is back now and it’s going to be even bigger this time. Like last year, IHMs will host the event again. The contest is open to 2nd/3rd year Hotel Management students at IHM campuses of Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. This time, it reaches two new cities- Pune and Trivandrum as well.

The contest is divided in two parts: Remix & Remake (also known as the Campus Round) and the Grand Finale. For the ‘Remix and Remake’ round, the participants will have to make their version of a McDonald’s burger using McDonald’s familiar buns and patty, but adding their signature touch by choosing their own salad and dressing. One finalist from each institute will be selected for the Grand Finale which will be held at the IHM Mumbai campus. In this round, the shortlisted participants will have to create a whole new burger of their own.

No matter whether one is a winner or not, the participants are certainly guaranteed to have an unforgettable time. Interactions with renowned names and key stakeholders of McDonald’s will add to their learning journey. As a part of the Grand Finale, the six finalists would be taken on a plant visit to Vista Processing unit and Bakery in Pune. What’s more, the winning recipe stands a chance to become a part of the McDonald’s menu. Watch this space for more updates on the McDonald’s Chef Challenge 2017.
