You know about our mission to keep families close đ You also know about our Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR) within the Outpatient Department of Paediatric Haematology/Oncology at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children in Mumbai â a special room set up for children undergoing cancer treatment and their carers.
The Ronald McDonald House CharitiesÂŽ (India) programme is dedicated to providing care centres, care rooms, and care houses for families in need, within and outside hospitals and medical centres, completely free of charge. Many patients come from rural India and vulnerable communities, travelling miles to access advanced medical facilities. At the RMFR, patients and their caregivers can relax and unwind, partaking in activities in the play area, read books, have refreshments â within a hygienic environment with the latest facilities and medical staff, close-by.
A beacon of hope for families since its establishment in 2016, it inspired us to launch a second Ronald McDonald Family Room at Government Cancer Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra! A BIG moment for us â 8 years in the making, we at McDonaldâs India (W&S) and RMHC India are pleased, and thankful to you for helping bring our vision to life!
Located on the First Floor of the Paediatric Department at Government Cancer Hospital, the new RMFR is a haven for families while their children receive treatment, ensuring they can stay close to their loved ones in a comforting space. Equipped with a waiting area, restrooms, and clean and hygienic child-friendly play areas, the Family Room eases the emotional and physical burden of long hospital stays.
Government Cancer Hospitalâs Paediatric Oncology department caters to approximately 500 children, every year. The RMFR makes a significant difference in the lives of paediatric cancer patients and their loved ones who visit the hospital for critical care.
