Chef Swarup needs little introduction but for the record, he lends his zest and passion and adds a special touch to everything he sets out to do – especially everything he brings to the table, McDonald’s burger menu, included!
To make known our thanks for his craft, years of dedication, mastery, and service, we’re sharing with our fans on International Chefs Day, interesting things you may or may not know about Chef Swarup!

He’s dubbed the Flavour King here at McDonald’s India – oh, oh, wait, he’s the Father of Piri Piri too! If you enjoy our Fries with Piri Piri Spice Mix, it’s thanks to Chef Swarup. This unmistakably orange-red, fiery flavour was added to our menu, soon becoming a permanent feature – its celebratory, dynamite, and indulgent taste was a hit with our Indian fans… Chef Swarup makes flavours come alive.

His love for food and ingredients contributes to some serious menu innovation and product development at McDonald’s India. Chef Swarup’s researching skills are unmatched and he leaves no stone unturned when it comes to crafting a quality burger or menu item for McDonald’s India. Chef Swarup is charming on all counts, not only when it comes to food. Be it Urmila Asher, lovingly called Baa, of Gujju Ben na Nasta fame or Padmi Shri icon, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor who we’ve partnered up with, recently, Chef Swarup is a natural at making anyone feel at ease, whilst allowing them to share their stories. His enthusiasm, general participation, and love for food definitely help – they echo the i’m lovin’ it factor, through and through!
