We’ve been keeping a secret close to our kitchens and hearts! THE WAIT IS OVER!

We can’t keep calm anymore, but first – let’s recap!

You know we’ve been hot on the trail of Chillies in India: Bhavnagri (????) from Gujarat, Jwala (????????) from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, and Byadgi (????) from Karnataka and Goa. All these chillies are distinctive in their own right, bringing something to the table, quite literally!

We encountered four more on our ‘spice journey’ –

• Kanthari (????????????) from Kerala: Bird’s Eye Chilli in some parts, the petite, fiery Kanthari Chilli is used in chutneys, curries, and pickles. This chilli also lessens heart disease risk, stops blood clots, and acts as a natural painkiller.

• Laungi (????????) from Tamil Nadu: This one’s used in crispy snacks called bhujia/namkeen because it’s the right kinda peppery!

• Guntur (????????) from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: The food in these regions are spicCcCcy, owing to Guntur Chillies’ fiery flavour. Locals in the area believe the heat level of this chilli is proportional to how small the chilli is!

• Kolhapuri (????????) from Maharashtra: A coastal cuisine staple, Kolhapuri Chillies are also used to make spice mixes like garam masala.
