Eid Mubarak!

The Holy Month of Ramadan has drawn to a close, the crescent moon has been sighted, and the auspicious day to celebrate meethi Eid has arrived.

Beginning at sunset on Chand Raat the night of the first sighting of the crescent moon, Eid al-Fitr is welcomed with greetings of “Eid Mubarak” (Arabic for ‘Blessed Eid’), traditional sweet dishes and festive foods. Muslims decorate their homes, typically with Moroccan lamps and lanterns (a big feature + so pretty!) and sometimes fairy lights too. Eid is a time of love, generosity, and forgiveness. Prayers (Namaz) are made on Eid, shopping is done for gifts and food, and almsgiving (zakat) is done too.

As in most festivals, Eid is made special by the people in our families, friend circles and communities. Eid is about celebrating together, eating delicious foods, and joining in the gusto!
