“Aao sikhayein tumhe ande ka funda. Yeh nahi pyaare koi maamuli banda,” The catchy lyrics of the popular Govinda movie sums up the story of an egg. But do you know the story behind a quality egg?
Good quality eggs come from healthy birds. McDonald’s has introduced strong scientific principles in the business of chicken farming to ensure better bird-raising practices. Improved bird feed and inspection of bird-raising practices by qualified veterinarians are a few of the steps taken.
These measures result in an increased bird weight; birds from McDonald’s certified farms weigh 2.1 – 2.4 kgs, as compared to India’s national bird-weight-average of only 1.2 – 1.4 kgs.
The eggs are washed and cleaned, sterilised and coated. This ensures that they do not break during transportation and have an increased shelf life.
In India, all these take place at the facilities of McDonald’s egg supplier, Vista Processed Foods Pvt Ltd (OSI Group), which has eight units in operation across the country.
So the next time you grab a bite of a McEgg or an Egg & Cheese McMuffin, you can be rest assured that McDonald’s only serves you the best quality eggs.
