Breakfast is made up of two words – Break and Fast. You have not eaten for about ten to twelve hours and this is your first meal of the day to break your fast. Hence, in a way what you eat at breakfast will determine your energy levels for the day. If you skip this important meal, chances are you will overcompensate during the next meal, or pop in a few biscuits or a chocolate bar to help suppress your hunger pangs. Studies show that nutrients lost by skipping breakfast are rarely made up by other meals during the day.

You first meal of the day should give your body the good nourishment that will get your metabolism up and running. Research has shown that breakfast goes beyond just helping you to stay alert. Children who eat an adequate and nutritious breakfast show improved attention span, added ability in problem solving, and even better comprehension during reading and listening.
